Telemedicine refers to the provision of medical benefits such as advice or diagnostics by means of modern communication technologies.

With the SWICA telemedicine plan, this is provided by the santé24 online practice.

If possible, please contact the santé24 online practice first on +41 44 404 86 86. In the event of an emergency, you may go directly to an emergency clinic or hospital. Any follow-up consultations required after emergency treatment must be approved in advance by speaking with santé24.

• Children up to 16 years of age can be treated by paediatricians without consulting santé24
• Appointments with ophthalmologist or gynaecologists
• Before follow-up treatments in connection with consultations already agreed with santé24
• Treatment received during a temporary stay abroad

If you switch from the Standard basic insurance plan to the telemedicine plan, SWICA will give you a discount of between 4% and 10.25% on your premiums. The size of the discount depends on your place of residence, your age and your chosen excess. The example below illustrates the minimum and maximum possible discount on premiums with the telemedicine plan:

• Minimum discount on premiums: Adult aged 26 or over, lives in Engelberg, excess: 300 francs, no accident cover, standard premium of 452.30 francs, with 4% discount: premium of 429.70 francs per month.
• Maximum discount on premiums: Adult aged 26 or over, lives in Biel, excess: 300 francs, no accident cover, standard premium of 645.10 francs, with 10.25% discount: premium of 579  francs per month.
