Pet insurance for dogs and cats

Yes, you can select this option when you take out the policy. A pre-existing condition is a medical condition that was diagnosed, was already recognisable or could have been detected during an examination when the policy was taken out.

With the exception of the supplementary cover that can be taken out for pre-existing conditions, there is no deductible for each visit to the vet. When you take out the insurance, you choose an annual excess (0, 150, 300, 500, 1000 or 2000 francs). The 150 franc excess is only available for cats, and the 2000 excess only for dogs. Depending on your chosen cover and the age of your pet, the insurance covers between 80% and 100% of costs.

For pre-existing conditions, a one-off deductible of 300 francs is charged per case of illness. Beyond that, 80% of the costs are covered, falling to 60% from the age of nine.

You can take out pet insurance with us for your cat or dog from the age of eight weeks without any restrictions.

For SWICA, the priority is your animal’s welfare. The following treatments are therefore not covered:

• Treatments that have not been recommended by a vet
• Cosmetic surgery without medical reasons
• Vet visits during the waiting period
• Costs relating to pregnancy and reproduction
