Frequently asked questions about pet insurance
Yes, this option is possible when taking out pet insurance. A pre-existing condition is a medical diagnosis that does not date back more than 24 months at the time of taking out the insurance. If the diagnosis or treatment occurred more than 24 months before, it is no longer considered to be a pre-existing condition and as such is covered.
With the exception of the additional cover that can be taken out for pre-existing conditions, there is no deductible for each visit to the vet. However, there is an annual excess, whose amount you can choose yourself when taking out pet insurance (CHF 0, 150, 300, 500, 1'000 or 2'000). In addition, depending on the cover and age, costs of between 80% and 100% can be covered.
Insurance can be taken out without restrictions from eight weeks old.
The focus is on the welfare of the animal. The following treatments are therefore not included in the cover:
- Treatments without a recommendation from a veterinary surgeon
- Cosmetic surgery without medical reasons
