How the telemedicine model works

Under the FAVORIT TELMED telemedicine model, for any health-related matter you first call the santé24 telemedicine service on +41 44 404 86 86 (available around the clock). The medical staff there will not prescribe any diagnostic or therapeutic measures, but will offer you a recommendation on what to do next.

  • Team of qualified doctors and medical experts
  • If you wish, santé24 will find you suitable doctors, therapists or hospitals
  • santé24 staff will also be glad to arrange an appointment directly for you at a Medbase Health Centre or SWICA partner practice

Frequently asked questions about the telemedicine model

With the telemedicine service model you get an attractive discount on your premiums and the same benefits as under the STANDARD basic insurance. The only difference is the choice of contact point: under the telemedicine service model, you always call the doctors and medical staff at santé24 on +41 44 404 86 86 first for advice.
  • In emergencies
  • Children up to the age of twelve can get treatment from a paediatrician without first consulting santé24
  • Appointments with an eye doctor or a gynaecologist
  • Before receiving treatments in connection with consultations as agreed on with santé24
  • When getting treatment during a temporary stay abroad
If possible, please always contact santé24 first on +41 44 404 86 86. In an emergency you can go directly to an emergency centre or hospital. If a follow-up consultation is necessary after emergency treatment, this must be discussed with santé24 in advance.

When you switch from the STANDARD basic insurance plan to the telemedicine plan, SWICA gives you a discount of between 7% and 12% on your premiums. The exact discount depends on where you live, your age and your chosen excess. Below, we have provided examples of how the minimum and maximum possible discounts are determined under the telemedicine plan:

  •  Minimum discount: Adult aged 26 or over, living in Sarnen, excess: CHF 300, no accident cover, standard premium: CHF 465.50, with 7% discount: monthly premium of CHF 432.90.
  • Maximum discount: Adult aged 26 or over, living in Visp, excess: CHF 300, no accident cover, standard premium: CHF 470.00, with 12% discount: monthly premium of CHF 413.60.
