Fit and healthy in your home office

Fit and healthy in your home office

Our body needs exercise – not just to stay fit and healthy, but also to minimise the risk of physical illness. Exercise is something that people working from home often badly neglect. In this health tip we show you how to stay physically active in your home office.
The current situation is placing severe restrictions on our lives. Anyone who’s in a position to should now be working from home. For many people, that means they no longer get to bike or walk to work. Nevertheless, exercise is really important when you’re working in a home office. Not only does it reduce the risk of physical illness, but daily activity also keeps you fit and healthy.

Exercising even when working from home

So whenever you take a short break from work, it’s really important to get a small dose of exercise. Prevention management specialist Fabian Göring recommends you combine exercises for stamina and strength with stretching.

  • Stamina exercises are designed to get your cardiovascular system, circulation and metabolism going.
  • There are various strength exercises you can do to preserve or build muscle.
  • And you shouldn’t forget stretching exercises, for example to stretch the muscles that flex your hips, to prevent them from shortening and causing tension and pain in the lower back.
