Conflicts at work
Conflict: a major cause of absences
A WorkMed study commissioned by SWICA shows just how seriously conflicts at work can affect people: in 57 per cent of all cases of mental incapacity to work, the main cause was a conflict in the workplace. This doesn't just affect employee satisfaction. It also inhibits productivity and has a negative impact on the working atmosphere.
It's very important to avoid conflicts at work or be able to resolve them constructively. A corporate culture that supports this is essential, along with effective early intervention and measures. Organisations that deal with conflict proactively and effectively not only strengthen their teams and the health of individual employees, but also achieve lasting reductions in absenteeism.

Negotiating change without conflict
An insured person had to contend with new tasks and a new boss. This led to uncertainty and resentment. A conflict arose between the employee and their line manager about adapting tried-and-tested processes. The line manager was able to contact our helpline for managers to reflect on her role and discuss possible solutions. Thanks to our Job Balance early intervention programme, the employee received individual support to help them reduce stress and resolve the conflict. We work together to ensure clarity, trust and smooth collaboration through processes of change.
