How the Multichoice model works

Under the Favorit Multichoice model you use SymptomCheck in Benecura, where you will receive a recommendation based on your answers to some questions. Alternatively, you can contact the santé24 online practice (available around the clock) on +41 44 404 86 86 or one of our partner pharmacies.

If your health problem can’t be resolved in this way, you can choose your doctor from the comprehensive Multichoice directory. The doctor treating you can refer you to any doctor listed in the directory.
No co-payment (does not affect your excess and deductible): For any telemedicine services that santé24 provides (advice, consultations with experts and doctors), as long as basic insurance covers them. Exceptions include: advice and consultations in conjunction with nutrition advice and the psychological/psychiatric counselling service.

This is where you will find answers to frequently asked questions about SWICA’s Multichoice basic insurance model.

With the Multichoice model, you can enjoy an attractive premium discount. In addition, your first point of contact is different: with the Multichoice model, the following options are available:

Use the online SymptomCheck function in the Benecura app.
Contact the santé24 online practice on +41 44 404 86 86.
Visit a SWICA partner pharmacy.

Otherwise, you enjoy the same benefits as under the standard basic insurance model.

If you get advice from a Medpharm pharmacy without a doctor’s prescription, you must pay for the medicine yourself. If the pharmacist gives you advice using the NetCare algorithms, you can request a prescription via a teleconsultation with Medgate. If the Medgate doctor decides to issue a prescription from the specialities list (SL), this will be billed under basic insurance, minus the annual excess and deductible.

If you switch from the standard basic insurance model to the Multichoice model, SWICA will give you a premium discount of between 8% and 19%. The size of the discount depends on your place of residence, your age and your chosen excess. The example below illustrates the maximum possible premium discount with the Multichoice model:

Maximum premium discount: Adult aged 26 or over, lives in Aarau, excess: 300 francs, no accident cover, standard premium 578.40 francs, with 19% discount: premium 468.50 francs per month.

The Multichoice model is available in the following cantons: Aargau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Bern, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Geneva, Graubünden, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, Thurgau, Vaud, Valais and Zurich.

SWICA is the only health insurer that applies co-payments from basic insurance to those of its supplementary insurance, making your maximum annual co-payment significantly lower than with other health insurers.
