As summer draws to a close many of us switch from our sandals and light sneakers to closed leather shoes. Here you can find out why it's particularly important to take good care of your feet at this time of year.
Regular foot exercises strengthen the muscles, improve mobility and can prevent uneven strain and misalignment. The following exercises can easily be incorporated into your daily routine:
Toe claws: Place a small towel on the floor and pick it up with your toes. This strengthens the small muscles in the foot.
Heel lifts: From a standing position, slowly lift your heels off the ground until you're on your toes. Then lower back down. Strengthens calves and arches, improves stability and weight distribution.
Toe spreading: While seated, consciously spread your toes apart. Improves mobility in the toes and counteracts uneven pressure caused by tight shoes.
