1. What types of insurance does the Roche collective agreement offer?
SWICA offers Roche employees and their dependants compulsory basic insurance and supplementary out-patient and in-patient health insurance. Employees are also free to choose only basic and/or supplementary insurance through SWICA.

2. Who is eligible to participate in the Roche collective agreement?
All employees of Roche companies in Switzerland and their dependants.
3. Which dependants are eligible to join Roche's collective agreement?
Family members living in the same household: spouses and life partners and childern.

5. What conditions apply when switching to SWICA?
Employees and their family members can take out COMPLETA TOP and HOSPITA GENERAL supplementary insurance plans without a medical examination.
6. I am already insured with SWICA and would like to take advantage of the preferential terms for Roche employees. What do I have to do?
If you would like to sign up to the Roche group contract, please send an email with your insurance number to roche@swica.ch.

7. Up to what age can supplementary insurance be taken out?
Taking out supplementary insurance and switching to the collective agreement is generally possible up to the age of 65.

8. By what date must I give notice to terminate my compulsory basic insurance?
The notice deadline for switching on 1 January 2025 is 29 November 2024. Notice must have been received by your current insurer by that date within business hours.

9. How do I terminate my existing supplementary insurance and what are the applicable deadlines?
Supplementary insurance can be reduced or terminated at the end of any year. The deadlines are as follows:
  • If the premium remains the same, three to six months (notice must be received by the current insurer on the last working day before 30 September). Please take multi-year contracts into account. You can ask SWICA for a quotation or advice at any time.
  • If the premium is increased, 30 days after receipt of the new policy for the following year. Notice of termination must be submitted in writing.

10. What insurance solutions does SWICA offer cross-border commuters?
SWICA offers cross-border commuters attractive insurance solutions. For individual advice, please contact the customer advisors at the agency cross-border commuters on +41 61 270 62 62.

11. Can I stay in the Roche collective scheme when I retire?
Yes, you can stay in the Roche collective scheme. Coverage will continue unchanged without a new medical examination. However, the collective discount may differ.

12. When my life partner retires, will he/she continue to benefit from the advantages of group insurance as long as I am still working?
The key factor here is the age of the person employed by Roche. If your life partner is over the age of 65, he/she will remain covered by the group contract until the person employed by Roche reaches statutory retirement age.

13. Can my life partner join the group contract if he/she is already aged 65 or over but I am still employed?
Yes, the key factor here is the age of the person employed by Roche. Your life partner can therefore join the Roche group healthcare scheme and take advantage of its attractive terms even after he/she has reached the age of 65.

14. Can I stay in the Roche collective scheme if I leave the company?
That is not possible. If your employment contract is terminated, you transfer to SWICA's individual insurance without a medical examination. The existing insurance coverage continues in full, taking the previous period of insurance into account.
