Hiking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and improve your health. Although Switzerland has excellent public transport services, there are mountainous regions that lack connections. With your Benevita community coins, you are helping the Bus alpin association to bridge these gaps and promoting environmentally friendly travel and sustainable economic development in the regions.
In many remote regions of the Swiss Alps, travel by public transport is limited. This often means it is only possible to reach attractive destinations by car. This leads to heavily congested mountain roads, overcrowded car parks and additional pressure on sensitive natural areas, especially on nice days. It also makes it harder to plan flexible hikes from A to B.
This is where the Bus alpin association comes in. Working with partners in 18 Swiss regions, it creates demand-driven public transport services in areas where regular connections are lacking – tailored to the local circumstances and offering a sustainable alternative to cars.
Your community coins help Bus alpin to secure and further develop its services in the mountains – in terms of finance, organisation and communication.
Founded in 2011, the Bus alpin association supports mountainous regions in the development and operation of bus services where there are gaps in regular public transport provision. Support from national organisations and regional partners funds the office, which in turn advises and supports the regional partners on matters relating to public transport. Over 100 000 passengers are transported each year in 18 regions.
