Privacy policy and terms of use for video consultations

Thank you very much for your interest in SWICA. Below, we provide information about the processing of personal data in connection with the use of the video consultation service via swica.ch or calculate.swica.ch and other related websites.

General

SWICA uses the BSI Snapview software solution provided by BSI (BSI Business System Integration Deutschland GmbH, Rheinstrasse 97, 64295 Darmstadt) to conduct video consultations.

The data controller is:
SWICA Healthcare Insurance Ltd, Römerstrasse 37, 8400 Winterthur

Participation in the video consultation is voluntary and can be initiated or terminated by you or your advisor at any time. You are not required to register with Snapview. In order to participate, you will receive an access link and a session number, along with a password if necessary. When you join the session, you enter your name or a pseudonym.

Categories of personal data

When using the video consultation service, the following data in particular is processed:

1. First name and surname
2. Date of birth (if already known from the information on calculate.swica.ch)
3. Postcode and town/city (if already known from the information on calculate.swica.ch)
4. Technical access data, in particular browser type and version, operating system, internet service provider, IP address, date and time of access, and pages accessed
5. The volume of data transmitted
6. Access status (e.g. successful or unsuccessful transmission)

Purpose of processing

This data is processed for the purpose of providing and performing video consultations, ensuring the security and stability of the system, performing the technical administration and optimising the service.

SWICA also processes personal data to ensure continuous and needs-based customer care.

Legal basis

Processing is based on

• consent and/or legitimate interest (Art. 31 (1) FADP)
• implementation of pre-contractual measures or the performance of a contract (Art. 31 (2)(a) FADP)

Screenshot, recording, transcription

During the video consultation, the advisor may take a screenshot of the transmitted content, record the transmitted and spoken content of the session and/or automatically transcribe the spoken content.

This will only take place if you have been informed in advance and given your explicit consent. You will be reminded about this during any active recording.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by notifying the advisor or ending the session.

Disclosure of data and transmission outside Switzerland

As part of the use of Snapview, personal data may be disclosed to the provider in Germany.

Germany’s data protection is recognised as adequate by the Federal Council. Data is processed under a data processing agreement in accordance with the FADP.

Technical and organisational measures

SWICA and BSI take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, manipulation or destruction. These measures include in particular rules on access control, transmission security, integrity and availability. The security measures are reviewed on a regular basis and adapted to the current state of the art.

Your device is outside of SWICA’s control. You are responsible for ensuring it is secure. We recommend using the latest versions of software and trusted networks.

Storage period

Personal data is only retained for as long as is necessary for the stated purposes or to comply with statutory retention obligations. The IP address is only stored temporarily to allow the video consultation to take place and to ensure functionality and security.

Your rights

You have the right to obtain information about your personal data held by SWICA at any time and to request its correction, restriction or deletion. To do so, please contact datenschutz@swica.ch.
