In September 2015, SWICA sold 70% of its stake in santémed to Medbase, a Migros subsidiary. This will enable SWICA to consolidate its position as a leading healthcare organisation with a countrywide network and push ahead with integrated care together with a strong partner, thus making a contribution to the health of the Swiss populace at large and exerting a positive influence on healthcare costs. For SWICA it was important to find a company which, like itself, is customer-centric, enjoys an excellent image and has long-term goals. Migros is this kind of company. Both companies are well known as attractive employers, offering progressive working conditions and good social benefits. santémed and Medbase enjoy a strong position in the healthcare sector and complement each other ideally in medical services, therapy, analysis, massage, conventional/complementary medicine, prevention, rehabilitation, advice, and offerings in the field of occupational health promotion. Cooperating with Medbase means that we can expand our operation across Switzerland and also establish a presence in French-speaking Switzerland and Canton Ticino. The result is Switzerland's largest network of primary medical care provision. Cooperation with Migros also brings substantial benefits to those insured with SWICA, giving them access to nine Medbase medical centres in addition to the 22 santémed Health Centres. For those who are covered by the FAVORIT SANTE basic insurance model, the Medbase medical centres also act as an initial point of contact. All the services previously provided to SWICA customers (e.g. the arrangement of health centre appointments by sante24) will continue unchanged.
