Look after your health with the Feldenkrais Method
Content-Team SWICA
The Feldenkrais Method was invented by Moshé Feldenkrais, who in addition to being a scientist was a judo teacher and co-founder of the first judo club in Europe. He put the emphasis on learning.
How does Feldenkrais work in practice?
Feldenkrais is a somatic learning process taught either in group classes or individual sessions. Group classes are based on a technique called Awareness Through Movement, with participants receiving verbal instructions from a Feldenkrais teacher and doing the movements themselves. During the session the teacher may ask participants questions – for example whether they can feel the soles of their feet or whether their shoulders are tense – to make them aware of habits or new patterns of movement.Individual sessions take the form of so-called Functional Integration. Here the person sits or lies in a specific position, with the Feldenkrais teacher communicating movements non-verbally by gently touching or moving them.
Who can benefit from Feldenkrais?
According to the association of Feldenkrais practitioners, people’s ability to learn is a key component in their capacity for health and vitality. Whatever their age or walk of life, it’s possible for people to learn more, improve their health and thus benefit from the Feldenkrais Method. The Feldenkrais Method can also help make people more mobile and get to know their bodies better.Generous support with your efforts to stay fit and healthy
