The Brunni area is the ideal destination for families, mountain lovers and bon vivants who want to spend time being active or just relaxing amid spectacular alpine scenery.
The state-of-the art cableway runs from Engelberg to Ristis, where you'll find Globi's alpine playground and the summer toboggan run. Since 2016 it's been possible to walk the "barefoot trail" from Ristis to the Brunnihütte hut without shoes. By the hut you'll find the idyllic Lake Härzlisee, where there are places to barbecue and a special Kneipp "tickle trail". You can also get there with the Ristis-Brunnihütte chairlift. Another highlight for families is Globi's treasure hunt. The challenge is to find the eleven treasure chests hidden along the trail. You can climb the Rigidalstock using four via ferratas (fixed rope climbing routes), from easy to very difficult. The Walenpfad, one of Switzerland's most beautiful high alpine hiking trails, also starts in the Brunni area. With plenty of culinary delights and fine wine, a visit to the Berglodge Restaurant Ristis is always a pleasure. Since 2016 the restaurant has also offered comfortable rooms for those tempted to stay a little longer.
The Klostermatte, Central Switzerland's biggest beginners' winter sports resort, has everything you need for a great day of skiing, from restaurants, a ski school, ski rental and ski storage facilities, to parking right by the ski lifts. Whether you're into skiing or sledging, snowshoeing or winter hiking, there's something for everyone.
