Questions and answers

Who do I ask if I have questions about my Insurance Card or insurance?
If you have any questions about your insurance cover or your Insurance Card, please contact the 24-hour customer service or your personal customer service. The santé24 helpline provides advice on health-related issues.

What data is saved on the microchip?
In accordance with the provisions of the Swiss Federal Office for Public Health (FOPH), the microchip contains the same administrative data that is printed on the insurance card. Depending on the scope of insurance, you can therefore obtain medication at a pharmacy without having to pay for it directly.

I already have a SWICA Insurance Card and have just been sent a new one. Do I still need the old one?
No. Either the old card was valid only for a limited time, or your cover has changed in such a way that a new card had to be issued. Please destroy the old card.

What do I need to do if the Insurance Card is lost?
Please contact SWICA Client Services. You will find the address of your personal Client Services office on insurance documents such as your policy, premium invoice, benefit statement, etc. Or you can order a new card online.

The whole family is insured with SWICA but not everyone has the same card. How come?
Insured persons with global private hospitalisation insurance have access to outstanding medical treatment around the world. This added value is reflected in the specially designed Insurance Cards if the insured person has also taken out basic health insurance with SWICA.

Medical emergencies abroad

SWICA is there for you if you face an emergency abroad. It issues cover notes for hospital treatment around the clock and makes quick and safe arrangements to get you back to Switzerland. You will be treated by the best doctors and benefit from full financial protection.

The reverse side of the card is the European insurance card. It enables doctors, hospitals and other providers to settle the costs of emergency treatment within the EU/EFTA area with SWICA directly, which means you won’t have to make any payment – except for eventual co-payments.
