You can always change your franchise as of the start of a calendar year. The following deadlines apply:
When reducing the franchise: 30 November
When increasing the franchise: 31 December
Please note that SWICA must have the instructions for reducing the franchise by the last working day before the specified date.

Basic insurance: You can adjust the plan and the franchise every year on 1 January. Please inform us in writing of the change by 30 November.
If you want to change from the STANDARD plan to a SWICA FAVORIT plan or from one FAVORIT plan to another, you can do so during the year with effect from the first day of the following month. A change during the year is possible if you change your place of residence.

The cover can always be increased with effect from the start of the next month.
A reduction in insurance cover is possible with effect from the end of the year, subject to the following notice periods:
- Three months in the case of an unchanged premium (SWICA must receive the notice by the last working day before 30 September)
- One month in the case of an increased premium (SWICA must receive the notice by the last working day before 30 November).

People in modest financial circumstances are entitled to a reduction in the premium. Individual premium reductions vary from canton to canton. Therefore please contact the compensation fund office of the community where you live.

The deadline for submitting notice of a change effective from 1 January of the coming year is 30 November.
The STANDARD basic insurance plan with a franchise of CHF 300 can also be terminated with effect from 30 June, as can the STANDARD basic insurance plan without an annual franchise, subject to receipt of notice by 31 March.

Yes. If you are registered with the unemployment office you are insured for occupational and non-occupational accidents through SUVA. If this is not the case, we recommend that you contact your SWICA customer service for a personal consultation.

No. If you serve for more than 60 consecutive days, you must send us documentation showing the number of days you served. You will be completely exempted from your basic health insurance premium for this period.
